Notorious B.I.G. autopsy report reveals four shots, one fatal

A newly released autopsy report that had been sealed for over 15 years reveals new details about the death of rapper Notorious B.I.G., who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997.
According to the Los Angeles Coroner's Department document, B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot four times, but only one shot was thought to be fatal. The document notes that that bullet struck Wallace's right hip before then hitting his liver, colon, heart and left lung.
Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey told The Associated Press that a longstanding security hold on the report was lifted just last week.
Wallace was 24 years old at the time of his death, and no one has been charged in the crime.
Although the hip-hop star's career was well established before his death, his first posthumous release, "Life After Death," went on to become his biggest selling album.
His life was the subject of the 2009 biopic "Notorious."
NBC News has reached out to reps for Wallace's widow, Faith Evans, for comment but so far there has been no response.
